Hey fans!
I think I may have been 50/50 on the show last night. I’m in such a catch-22 with shows that do the whole focus on one character and bring drama, end with a cliffhanger. But last night’s episode “Flashes Before Your Eyes”, was BRILLIANT. Love Desmond, love that character, and love everything he is going through, and last night brought a whole new Desmond and a whole new twist to the show. My only thing, and I better practice what I preach, is go to the Library or see Shawn (a good friend) at Barnes and Noble and
LET’S DO SOME READING!
Of Mice And Men – Sawyer reading in prison(remember the rabbit with the 8 on it’s back that Ben kills in front of Sawyer earlier this season? Of Mice and Men deals with death of a dog (Carlson kills that girl Candy’s dog, the nasty smelly old one), bunnies and dogs huh?)
Watership Down – Sawyer reading on the island (dogs taking over the bunnies, but the rabbits, against the wishes of their leader, Chief Rabbit {ben?}, escape the warren. The dogs in the book and film kill of some rabbits). Have you read this yet? No?! Go buy the book AND the film, classics.
Carrie – Juliet’s favorite book Season 3 Episode 1 (a Tale Of Two Cities {guess we’re reading that too} and Season 3 Episode 6 (Not In Portland), when she is watching over Rachel, there is YET another copy of Carrie, reminding us that Juliet has powers to make things happen. Like make her sister pregnant.
A Brief History In Time – Aldo is reading in Not In Portland. (Stephen Hawking’s book dealing with black holes, cosmology, superstring theories, also a doc film by Errol Morris, which you can rent from Netflix.)
Laughter In The Dark (Vladamir Nabokov) – (Written in the 30’s, later translated in English and entitled Camera Obscura, dealt with a similar theme to Nabokov’s 1955 release Lolita. Albert leaves wife and kid for 18-year old actress. A “painter” gets in-between the actress and Albert. Same painter as, Heironymus, wait, well keep reading. Who does this deal with on the island? Sawyer, uh no, I don’t think so, nor Hurley, who’s reading the book from Sawyers stash)
Just a few similarities of books being read on the island and the connection of who’s reading them.
NOW, ON TO THE SHOW, SEASON03 EPISODE08!
“Flashes Before Your Eyes” was pretty tame in some ways, or was it? It’s hard to explain and understand the flashbacks, but more than meets the eye (Desmond’s eye, the pupil, interesting), PLEASE KEEP READING. Now, this week left us with a cliffhanger, but we won’t see Charlie for 3 or 4 more episodes. Next week, we will be dealing with Kate and Sawyer right? We have to! And then there will be more on Jin, Sun, Sayid, Jack, Ben, Locke, Nikki, Paolo, Patch In The Hatch, etc. So don’t expect Charlie to die anytime this month, or at all, but do expect him to give his best wishes soon.
Some things we might not catch, but need to be discussed!
THE PAINTING in Mr. Charles Widmore’s office at Widmore Industries. Polar bears? Namaste backwards. From WIKIPEDIA.com, type in Hanso Foundation, and go down to Trivia, and you get "Namaste", a Sanskrit/Hindi greeting, is found on thehansofoundation.org web site. It is also spoken by Dr. Marvin Candle, presenter of the Swan station's orientation film, Alvar Hanso at the end of the The Sri Lanka Video and Kelvin, the former operator of the Swan station. YUP!
THE PICTURE of Desmond and Penny – We notice that the pic Desmond has on the island now is not this picture we are used to.
But, now the picture has changed to Penny wearing a black shirt, but Desmond is still the EXACT same as he was. No matter what, the picture should be the same right? Not until he got hit in the head by Jimmy Lennon’s cricket bat, should everything be the same, right? Then why did Penny change her clothes? Did someone tell her the ring was to be given to her? Why did the picture change to this?
THINGS PEOPLE SAID:
“And Maybe, You’re Gonna Be The One That Saves Me” Charlie sings as Desmond walks up to him. Also, Dominic Monaghan’s born in Manchester, like Oasis, but differ from Oasis. Dominic’s proper football team and LOVE is Man United (from Jimmy Kimmey live), but OASIS and everyone who is a sane person in Manchester, routes and cheers for Manchester CITY! Just thought you might want to know.
“Do I know you?” – Desmond to Charlie. YES YOU DO! Speaking of that painter in “Laughter In the Dark”, Charlie is sitting right there when Hurley is reading, a connection is made? I THINK the connection to “Laughter In The Dark” and Desmond is, that Desmond met Charlie before, but it was the head bump that mixed things up for him. Charlie’s middle name is Hieronymus (like Hieronymus Bousch, the famous painter) and in last night’s episode we see that painting in Widmore’s office that is very similar to a Bousch painting. Also, the hallucination of the baby and drugs Charlie has, very very Bousch style. In What Dreams May Come, the hell Robin Williams ends up in, is very much the same that Bousch paints in “The Garden Of Earthly Delights.”
“I’ll see you in another life brotha.” I know Desmond has been saying this for almost two seasons now, but what if? What if it is another life, brotha. I don’t think so. Hitting your head over and over again though, what a bitch. Speaking of bitch.
NEW CHARACTERS:
ANTIQUE SHOP LADY - She can tell what happens (the gift), like Desmond is pulling off on the island right now. BUT, since she is in his head and he is NOT reliving this flashback, where is she? On the island? Is this Rebecca? (Jacob’s mother) Or Is this Jacob’s wife Rachel, or Leah, or whichever else Jacob married? Antique Shop Lady tells Desmond all the things he’s not supposed to do, and then the incident with “red shoes” happens. Which leads us to!
PREDICTIONS/THEORIES
Charlie isn’t supposed to die silly! It’s Claire. In both incidents that Charlie was supposed to die, Claire was in there. Desmond is telling Charlie this so just in case, both Charlie AND Claire don’t die. Charlie loves Claire so much, he is willing to do everything and anything to help her. BUT! He couldn’t help Claire from drowning, because he couldn’t HEAR her, so Claire would have died. And goes so well with Claire’s knee high khakis she has, some pair of red shoes if you ask me. Sorry Charlie. Tuna for LUNCH!
DON’T TURN THE KEY!!! – So the flight of Oceanic 815 has been brought the island for a reason. My MASSIVE theory is the TURNING OF THE KEY. Desmond was NEVER to turn the key, so he wouldn’t think of Penny anymore. Once he forgets about Penny, he pushes buttons and lives for that purpose (like the Antique Shop Lady says). But someone else had an idea, and brought Oceanic 815 to crash and stop Desmond from pushing the button. Once Locke stopped Des, the key was turned and NOW Desmond can change his fate. Desmond was NEVER to turn the key. We all talk about there is a reason they are on the island, BUT, there is much more than “a reason”, every character has a reason for being there, making it 12-20 reasons they are there. And one HUGE connection, was to STOP DESMOND, but who is that for? HIM? JACOB? BEN? Purple skies mean blue waters to sail. ANTIQUE SHOP LADY is an OTHER!!!! Oh yes she is, she tells Desmond he will turn the key, which he was NEVER SUPPOSED TO DO! HOLY SHIT! “Every single one of us is dead” she says, right? And it was the OTHERS that brought Oceanic 815 to the island. LOCKE TO STOP DESMOND! That’s her connection. She makes Desmond turn the key.
Why is MacCutcheon Whisky on the island? Because it’s what Christian Shepard would get his hands on if he would drink whisky, right? Maybe. But someone on the flight had MacCutcheon. Who?
Okay, enough for now! Wow! So much. I will keep posting but, WOW!
COMMENT! Please, did I miss anything?
